2019 Welcome from the Boys Director

Red Hawks:

Wait.  What? 2019.  That is over 3 months away!!

Hold that thought, we will come back to it.

After assessing the 2018 season it was clear that the boys program overall had a fantastic season.  We received great feedback, had a winning record overall and our U14’s went to the NCJLA championship (congrats to U14 coaches and players, huge accomplishment!!).

It was also clear that there is room for improvement, a lot of room in fact.  This is because an operation that runs 10 teams with 17 coaches, 201 players, 127 games and 640 hours of practice just has a lot going on.

When President Tyler Bell and I sat down to discuss where we could improve this year, the obvious first choice was the preseason.  We agreed that we need to do more and earlier to prepare our players for success in 2019. Hence the Email to you now.

Rest assured, this is not a lacrosse 24/7/365 mindset.  We understand and support that Red Hawks players should have time for other sports and activities.

On to the preseason improvements:

Registration

Avoid the last minute drama of being on a waitlist and get your player registered now!  As Tyler noted in his Email, early registration helps us know how many teams, coaches and fields we need.  The earlier we know the better the chances that we can field every player. If you know a Red Hawk family, make sure the register early. Emails are easy to miss and we need your help getting the word out.

Preseason Calendar

We heard last year that it was hard to keep track of all the preseason activity communicated over Email and that it was easy to miss important dates.  We have established a preseason calendar that will get us from today to first day of practice.

Preseason Clinic Series with Encore and ADVNC

This year we want to be very strategic with your players’ preseason time.  We have developed a preseason clinic series to progressively develop over the fall and be fully prepared to excel come January.  We will run 1 clinic per month and provide drills that players can practice on their own between clinics. Most exciting of all is that these clinics will be run by some of the top coaches in Northern California from Encore and ADVNC.

THREE IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. You must be REGISTERED to attend the clinics. The details will be shared via TeamSnap.

  2. If you player wants to be on U12A or U14A they should attend all 4 clinics.

  3. The 9/29 clinic is just a week away.  This means it will probably have the smallest turnout of all the clinics, which in turn means your player will get the most individualized attention from former All-Americans!

We have even more improvements in store for you as the preseason progresses.  Be on the lookout for periodic updates from me.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the field.

Go Red Hawks!!
